Make Way for the NEW

Updated: Mar 25, 2021

It is normally in December that people look at new years’ resolutions and setting goals to begin in January, and normally by the end of January it is sad to say that most of us have given up on our goals because something has come up or we are so comfortable with the way things were that we just settle back to where we were. Does this sound familiar? #achievelifecoaching #decluttering

Here are a few pointers that will help you set your goals and stick to them:

Make way for the new

The first thing you should do before setting new goals is to make way for the new goals. This means a complete detox and decluttering, whether it be fitness goals, financial goals or personal goals. Look at what is old and let go of these things that no longer serve you. You will then have a better, more clearer mindset when venturing into new territory.

Make the new real

Now that you have made “space” you should think about what your goals are. Write down a story that reflects a day in your life when all your goals have been achieved. Remember to be as descriptive as possible so that the story is real to you.

Set your goals and actions steps

From your story pull out at most three goals. Make these goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-Bound. Write down the action steps you need to take to make these goals a reality.

Start today

Most importantly is to start today! Don’t wait until Monday or January, make your first action step something that you can do today.

Be flexible

While setting your goals and actions steps remember not to be too hard on yourself. Be flexible so that when you hit a bump in the road, you can make a slight detour and then get back on the road to success.
